Monday 16th July – Goring to Nettlebed

Monday’s walk takes us from Goring-on-Thames, north on the Thames Path (which here is the same as the Ridgeway), through South and North Stoke to Mongewell which is just south of Wallingford. We then climb slightly onto Grims Dyke and walk almost due east to Nuffield. We then divert off the Ridgeway and make our way to Nettlebed and the Village Club for the evening gig at the Folk Club.

We will meet from 11.30 outside Pierreponts Cafe (unfortunately closed on Mondays), on the High Street, Goring-on-Thames RG8 9AB, and leave at 12 noon. The walk to Mongewell is about 5.5 miles so we should reach Grims Dyke around 1.30 to 2pm. The second part of the walk to Nettlebed is 7 miles making a total walk of 12.5 miles. We aim to reach Nettlebed by 4.30 to allow time for setup, cleanup and grub-up before the evening gig at the folk club in the Village Club Hall.

All day parking in Goring may be found at the station and in Nettlebed there is evening parking opposite the Village Club and on the roadside and on the edges of the common land alongside the A4130 coming into Nettlebed from the Henley direction.
