Return to the Ridgeway: Day 1

56 of us leaving the Red Lion, Avebury, to walk the stone circle. Humbled and elated with turnout. On the Ridgeway with high cumulus clouds promising fair weather, the downs shimmering with winter wheat caught in the wind. The Reluctant Ramblers are off agaim. JJ

Return to the Ridgeway – 6/7/8th June

JJ and the Reluctant Ramblers will take to the ancient pathways of England for a short 3 day walking / gigging tour of The Ridgeway, starting at the iconic stone circle at Avebury and walking east to the Thames Valley with gigs at Marlborough / Wantage [a session] and the Nettlebed Folk Club.
JJ says ..” This is one of my favourite paths in England and we re-trace the steps of our White Horses Walk in 2012 passing the Uffington White Horse. There was a time when I thought this might not happen this year so it will feel very special. I hope I can make it with your help. ” JJ

Last chance to walk with JJ this year

As part of the Kington Walking Festival, John repeats his beautiful walk to the source of the River Arrow through stunning border scenery, through a hidden valley to the ancient Celtic church at Colva and, after a welcome stop at Gladestry, continues on over Hergest Ridge to complete the walk into Kington.
